Epson Stylus Office BX305FW Review
The Epson Stylus Office BX305FW Wireless Multifunction inkjet printer is a low priced office printer with some great features. Presented in a stylish, professional design, with a fixed angle control panel, the BX3050FW offers the user the ability to print, scan, copy and fax from the one printer.
Paper is fed into the printer from a single paper tray at the rear of the machine which holds roughly 90 to 100 sheets of 80 gsm paper. The paper output is at the lower front of the printer, and into the Automatic Document Feed tray with a capacity of 30 documents.
Arguably the most striking feature of the Epson Stylus Office BX305FW when you approach it, is the size of the control panel. But what about its functionality? The LCD display shows two lines of text only, but the contrast is good, even in bright light, making it easy to read. There are lots of buttons, including start and stop, a number pad and there are five buttons for quick dial faxes.
At the rear of the Epson Stylus Office BX305FW there are three sockets, for USB, a telephone connection and a handset.
There are four individual inks, three colour and one black.
The customer reviews indicate that this printer is easy to set up and use.
The BX305FW runs under the Windows and Mac platforms and comes with some software included to cope with document management and OCR, and to do with altering photos and printing web pages.

Customer Reviews
We found the reviews indicate that wireless and setup is easy and the printer appeared instantly to a wifi connected iPhone. We learned of some installation and printing issues on an Apple Mac which were subsequently resolved. The default setting is apparently fast print on an economy setting, but this can be altered.
At the time of writing there are not many customer reviews in total to spot significant trends either for or against this printer, though the majority of purchasers are positive, which also means many were disappointed for one reason or another. We read about a variety of problems some users experienced with this printer.

Given the increase in demand for printers to have the capability to print from an iPod touch, iPad and iPhone, printer manufacturers are meeting this demand by adding AirPrint to its list of standard features of wireless printers. Canon recently announced that two new PIXMA models have AirPrint compatibility, the MX512 and MX432 Wireless Office All-In-One inkjet printers. Other Canon printers that support AirPrint functionality are the MG8220, MG6220, and MG5320, in the PIXMA range.
It’s easy to see the attractions for the user of AirPrint support. You can send documents and photographs to a wireless printer from an app on an iOS device that supports printing, and this is without the need to install any special software or drivers, thus saving valuable space on iPads, iPhones and the iPod touch. Other makes of printer that have built in AirPrint support are Brother, Epson, HP, and Lexmark.
If you don’t have an AirPrint printer it doesn’t mean you can’t print from an iOS device. Alternative options are third part hardware and software such as Lantronix xPrintServer and Ecamm Network’s Printopia, both of which add AirPrint features to almost any printer. AirPrint is available on any iPad, 3GS or later iPhone, and any 3rd generation or later iPod touch running iOS 4.2 or later.

All eyes were on the Computer Electronics Show held in Las Vagas in January, in order to get a prediction of likely trends for the year ahead in addition to finding out about the latest products likely to be released in the coming months.
It was noted that the latest printers from Canon, HP and Epson come with a touch and go printing capacity which means all you have to do is set the print job up and let the printer do the rest for you. In particular the Kodak Hero All-in-One printer range can automatically detect the paper size and from there it can forecast how much ink and paper will be needed to complete the job.
Kodak offers mobile printing using its apps and by using the Home Center Software. You can also print from mobile devices, such as a smartphone, tablet, using Google Cloud Print enabled apps and this includes the popular Google tools, Gmail and Google Docs.
In summary, anyone with a mobile device can send documents or photographs from their tablet or smartphone directly to an all on one printer using Google Cloud Print. These printers have their own email address to which you can attach documents or photographs so anyone with an email enabled device can take advantage of this facility.

PIXMA MG5220 vs Deskjet 3050
I bought an HP Deskjet 3050 All-in-One Printer mainly for our daughter to do her school projects, and it turns out to have been a good purchase. I bought this printer about the middle of last year. Although we don’t use it all the time, I haven’t needed to replace either of the two ink cartridges yet. When the time comes I can replace them individually or together as a pair, as it only takes two cartridges.
The reason I bought the HP Deksjet 3050 is because I didn’t want to spend much money, so I regarded it as a budget printer. It needed to be good enough quality to print, scan and copy photos and documents, which it is. I am not disappointed on either score so far. I probably paid a bit more for it compared with the current price but that’s the way things workout sometimes.
The Deksjet 3050 prints wirelessly, which is another major reason I bought this printer, for its wifi connectivity. Set up was easy, as I didn’t even have to look up my wireless key for the network router, the software installation program found it automatically. I did however struggle to get it working with my desktop which runs the Ubuntu operating system. I gave up after spending time trying to get it to work, but I have Microsoft Windows XP and Windows 7 and it works well with those two operating systems and I am happy with that.
All things considered, for me the HP Deskjet 3050 All-in-One Printer has been a good purchase. All the family can use it wirelessly, from wherever we want to work in the house, and that’s a useful function to have.
I had a look at the Canon PIXMA MG5220 Wireless Inkjet Photo All-in-One with a view to upgrading as I have seen the high number of positive reviews it has, so I decided to dig a little deeper to find out what it has to offer, compared with my HP Deskjet 3050.
It’s important to bear in mind the PIXMA MG5220 is a different beast altogether, which means the functionality of the two printers is quite different. Just look at these features of the PIXMA MG5220.
Canon PIXMA MG5220 Wireless Inkjet Photo All-in-One Features
Just like the 3050, all round print quality is very good. The Deskjet 3050 has two ink cartridges compared with the 5 individual tank system of the PIXMA 5220, of which you only need replace the individual inks when they become empty. No doubt with economy in mind, the MG5220 has built in Duplex printing, meaning it prints on both sides of the paper. I can do that manually with my HP Deskjet 3050 but its not the same as the printer doing it for you automatically. There’s no comparison there.
The Canon PIXMA 5220 has a 2.4 inch folding LCD screen which lets you see what’s going on. My Deskjet screen is smaller than that and it doesn’t fold up or down as its built into the top cover of the printer.
When you look at the price of these two all in ones, then compare the functions of the two printers, the Canon PIXMA MG5220 Wireless Inkjet Photo All-in-One has a lot more to offer for the money. For instance, automatic wifi connectivity, Duplex printing, full HD movie print, auto document fix, prints from iPhone, iPod Touch, takes memory cards, and the PIXMA MG5220 is quieter printing than the HP Deskjet 3050.
There are more features of the PIXMA MG5220 than I have listed here and you can check these for yourself by clicking here. For the money and the better features it has to offer the Canon PIXMA MG5220 Wireless Inkjet Photo All-in-One is definitely worth a closer look.

Replacing Genuine Ink Cartridges For Your All In One Printer
Now that I have been using my HP Deskjet all in one printer for a few months I expect I shall soon need to buy some new ink cartridges as you never know when they are going to dry up. It’s sure to be in the middle of something important, which is what normally happens. So to keep the continuity going I like to keep at least one spare printer ink cartridge for each of the two types that the printer needs, which is multicolour and black. The question suddenly dawned on me, what ink cartridge do I need? A quick look through the printer manual gave me the answer I needed.
I am aware that sometimes you can find yourself paying nearly the same price for printer cartridge refills as for the cost of all in one printers. Silly as this sounds, it is true. In order to avoid buying another 3 in one printer I did some research to find the cheapest compatible printer ink cartridges I could find.
I began my search online, at my favourite shopping site, which is Amazon, and quickly found what I was looking for. Using the best prices I found there as a benchmark figure I then looked in different stores for ink cartridges and for cartridge refills. I’m not a big fan of using refilled ink cartridges but it does no harm just to look at the current prices. You can also buy empty used ink cartridges. Similarly, another option is to buy color ink cartridge refils, and the same for black inks.
Computer Printer Ink Cartridges
These are available in the locality where I live but I decided to give them a miss this time, on the grounds they were too expensive. I have used cartridge refill kits in the past, when I was doing a lot of printing, but it can be a messy job refilling the cartridges and it can also lead to spillages where you don’t want them.
The price of the compatible in my local superstore was significantly more than I had found them to be on Amazon, so I decided to buy online and save myself some money. Here is the link.

The HP Deskjet 3050A e-All-in-One Printer is a budget priced, wireless all in one printer that has some excellent features that anyone with a device capable of sending an email such as a smart phone can take advantage of. This is because the HP 3050A has its own email address, and once you have that address, you can attach a text file, photo, document to an email, and it will then print on the printer. The 3050A comes well packaged and it doesn’t take long to set it up with a wireless router and you’re ready to go. In my experience, it found the wireless key for me, and the setu steps were really easy. I use Windows XP and Ubuntu linux and the printer is happy on both operating systems. The initial software setup is via USB cable, but once your router has been recognised, you can choose to operate by wireless.
The print and scan quality are very good, and my daughter uses it a lot for her school project work. I am also pleased with the ink consumption. It appears to be economical on ink cartridges and we haven’t needed to replace them yet. A friend has told me that the 301XL cartridges, though you pay a little more for them, are more economical in the long term, because the ink lasts longer, so I might choose those when the time comes to replace both ink cartridges. And yes, buying replacement ink cartridges is a lot cheaper on Amazon than buying them in the shops.

You can send an email from any email enabled device, such as a desktop, laptop, Tablet PC, or Smart Phone. This is an advantage if you want to print something when you are away from home, and it makes the job easy.
The great thing about the HP 3050A is not only can you print from HP ePrint, but you can print via Apple AirPrint and Google Cloud Print as well, if you have a Google account.
Quick forms is an option on the printer menu, and this enables you to print calenders, puzzles, website content, etc. and is a useful facility if you want a standard form printing in a hurry.

This high quality of printing is made possible by the high resolution of the printer, and the technology of Canon’s print engine. Print speeds in both black and white are useful as well.
